Background: Understanding patient factors affecting early postoperative rehabilitation after hallux valgus surgery is crucial. This propensity-score-matched study of 300 cases evaluated gender differences in early functional recovery following Minimally Invasive Distal Transverse Metatarsal Osteotomy - Akin Osteotomy (MITA).
Methods: Propensity score matching was performed across 300 cases treated with MITA to compare early weight-bearing, pain relief, range of motion, and radiographic correction between male and female patients.
Results: Both groups achieved satisfactory radiographic correction and functional recovery following MITA, providing evidence-based guidance for individualized postoperative rehabilitation protocols.
Conclusion: MITA enables rapid early functional recovery across both genders in hallux valgus correction.
