Background: Minimally invasive hallux valgus surgery has evolved rapidly. This large-scale clinical study investigated the radiographic outcomes, functional improvements, and complication profile of Minimally Invasive Distal Transverse Metatarsal Osteotomy–Akin Osteotomy (MITA) across 493 consecutive cases.
Methods: A total of 493 cases undergoing MITA for hallux valgus were evaluated for pre- and postoperative radiographic angles (HVA, IMA), clinical pain/function scores, bone healing, and postoperative complications.
Results: Significant improvements in radiographic alignment and clinical scores were achieved with low rates of recurrence, nonunion, or hardware-related irritation.
Conclusion: The MITA procedure demonstrates reproducible deformity correction and favorable safety outcomes in a large cohort of 493 hallux valgus cases.
