초록

Background: Severe hallux valgus deformity traditionally required open proximal or diaphyseal osteotomies with extensive soft-tissue dissection. This study evaluated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of Minimally Invasive Diaphyseal Osteotomy with Akin Procedure (MIDA) for severe hallux valgus.
Methods: Patients with severe hallux valgus treated with the MIDA technique by Dr. Dong-Oh Lee were retrospectively analyzed using radiographic parameters (hallux valgus angle [HVA], intermetatarsal angle [IMA], distal metatarsal articular angle [DMAA]) and clinical functional scores.
Results: MIDA achieved significant correction of both HVA and IMA in severe hallux valgus cases with minimal incision, high bone union stability, and low complication rates.
Conclusion: Minimally Invasive Diaphyseal Osteotomy with Akin Procedure (MIDA) is a safe, reliable, and effective minimally invasive surgical option for correcting severe hallux valgus deformity.
